Mrs. Rose Mrs. Rose has one sister. When she was ten years old she would have to clean, cook, and study every day. In her school there was one class per grade and about thirty kids per class. When she would get home from school she would have to go outside and collect firewood for the wooden stove. After that her sister and she would cook the dinner. For fun she did not have TV. So once a month her mom, her sister, her dad, and she would go to a drive-in movie. They also thought studying and going to church was fun. When she was ten years old they played with these things called pi-melons. They were like miniature watermelons. They would put sticks in them for legs and arms and draw little faces on them. Mrs. Rose has lived here all her life. She was the first secretary at Blaney School. She also worked at the Elgin Watch Company, but only for a few months. When the name changed from Blaney to Elgin Mrs. Rose was very disappointed. When Mrs. Rose graduated from Blaney High School the next morning the school was burnt down. Their own principal burned the school down. In twenty-five years from now, Mrs. Rose thinks Elgin will have a lot more homes and businesses. Mrs. Rose would like to see more activity centers for the elderly. She would also like to see more doctors in Elgin because there is only one. She married a man named Arland Rose. She and her husband knew each other from childhood. She has two daughters Donna and Becky and a grandson, Jonathan Hunt. Mrs. Rose is one of many school board members.
