   ARE HERE DEPOSITED.

   SHE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER, 1797,

   AND DIED MARCH 5, 1862,

AGED 64 YEARS, 5 MONTHS AND 16 DAYS.

SHE WAS A ZEALOUS MEMBER OF THE BAPTIST CHURCH

AND LIVED A PIOUS AND USEFUL LIFE.

WAS A TRUE AND SINCERE FRIEND EVER READY

TO DO FOR OTHERS WHICH WAS HER GREATEST PLEASURE.

WINNING THE LOVE AND ESTEEM OF ALL AS A PARENT

   THE MOST SACRIFICING AND DEVOTED.

SHE LIVED THE LIFE OF THE RIGHTEOUS

AND HER LAST END WAS LIKE HIS.

MY MOTHER IS GONE HER WORK IS DONE AND SHE IS

FULLY BLEST. SHE FOUGHT THE FIGHT, THE VICTORY

   WON AND ENTERED INTO REST.

FROM THE TOMBSTONE OF REV. ELLIOTT ESTES:

AFFECTIONS TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF REV. ELLIOTT ESTES,

A NATIVE OF CAROLINE COUNTY, VA., BORN 23RD JULY 1795.

DEPARTED THIS LIFE 9TH OF JUNE 1849 AT HIS OWN HOME

IN BARNWELL DISTRICT, SO. CA.. AGED 53 YEARS, 10 MONTHS

   AND 14 DAYS.

BLESSED ARE THE DEAD WHICH DIE IN THE LORD, HE BEING

   DEAD YET SPEAKETH.

HE WAS A GOOD MAN, AN AFFECTIONATE HUSBAND AND PARENT,

A FRIEND INDEED. A BENEVOLENT AND LIBERAL CHRISTIAN

RICH IN GOOD WORK, READY TO DISTRIBUTE, WILLING TO

COMMUNICATE. HIS WORDS DO FOLLOW HIM. HE WAS A FAITHFUL

CHRISTIAN MINISTER WHO SHUNNED NOT TO DECLINE THE WHOLE

COUNSEL OF GOD. THE DIVINE SOVERIENTY WAS A DOCTRINE DEAR

TO HIS HEART AND HE FAILED NOT TO TEACH THE DEPRAVITY AND

RESPONSIBILITY OF MAN. WHO SHALL LAY ANYTHING TO THE

CHARGE OF GOD'S ELECT, WHO WORKETH ALL THINGS ACCORDING TO

THE COUNSELS OF HIS OWN WILL, SHALL NOT THE JUDGE THE EARTH

   DO RIGHT.

HE PREACHED THIRTY ONE YEARS AND WAS THE PASTOR OF ARNON AND

BEECH BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCHES WHEN HE FELL ASLEEP IN JESUS.

HIS BEREAVED WIDOW, SON AND DAUGHTER IN COMMITTING THE BODY

OF THE LOVED ONE TO THE TOMB HAVE THE STRONGEST HOPE OF HIS

BLESSED IMMORTALITY. HE WHO IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE

WILL RAISE THIS FORM AGAIN THAT IS MAY BE FASHIONED LIKE HIS

GLORIOUS BODY AND SO SHALL HE EVER BE WITH THE LORD.

HUSBAND, THOU ART GONE TO REST

THY TOIL AND CARES ARE O'RE.

AND SORROW, PAIN AND SUFFERING NOW

   SHALL NEVER DISTURB THEE MORE.

FATHER, THOU ART GONE TO REST

AND  THIS SHALL BE OUR PRAYER

THAT WHEN WE REACH OUR JOURNEY'S END

   THY GLORY WE MAY SHARE.
