| CANTEY |
Seek info on Cantey family. Sabb Cantey, Jasper Newton Cantey, 1880 census.
7 Sept 98. I am searching for Jasper Cantey's father and mother. To
date, we have not located them. I wonder if Vincent Cantey is related. During
those times, they named children after parents, grandparents, etc., The names
of Jasper Canty's children are: Annie I, Oliver Perry, Benjamin F, Thomas
H, Lilly Belle, Arthur Vincent, and a missing John R. Jasper Canty
was married first to a Shuman in the Hampton area, then married a Jones and
moved to the Charleston area. I have not yet found Jasper Cantey in the 1860
census. He would be nine at that year....born 1851. Of course, it is
possible that his father could have died when he was very young and he and
his mother and other siblings moved and the census lists them under another
household. I wonder if the Vincent Cantey in Barnwell records is related
somehow. Jasper Cantey's children's names are: Annie I, Oliver Perry,
Benjamin F, Thomas H, Lilly Belle, Arthur Vincent, and a missing John R.
He (Jasper) was married first to a Shuman in the Hampton area, then married
a Jones and moved to the Charleston area. 3 Oct. 2003 |

I have been searching records of the Cantey Family, Brunson Family and
Nettles family. My interest is in finding the wife of Jesse Nettles. I have
a copy of a letter written to Mr. W. Hampton Ramsey, Wedgefield, South Carolina
in 1904, in which the writer, Mary A. Hughson, Jesse Nettles, son of Solomon,
was Ms. Hughson's grandfather. A problem for the researchers in my
family line has been finding the name of Jesse Nettles, Jr.'s wife. For years
we have been told it was Rebecca Cantey, then some have said this was not
true. Ms. Hughson's grandfather's family records were cited in her letter
and she definitely states that Jesse Jr.'s wife's name was Rebecca Cantey.
This leads us to which Cantey and some of us have wondered if William Cantey
and Rebecca Brunson could be our Rebecca's parents. 3 Oct. 2003 |

| Cemetery in Fairfax |
Hi, I'm trying to find the name of a particular cemetary in Fairfax.
It is not near a church. It's in a neighborhood. Are you from Fairfax area?
If so, I can describe the area and maybe you can help me out. I know that
if you are coming into Fairfax from Allendale it would be on the left side
of the tracks. It is a rather large cemetary. Some of the houses beside it
seem to be mill houses. Quite a few of the families buried in it are Knopfs
(Ben Knopf was the druggest in Fairfax for a long time). 3 Oct. 2003 |

Connelly and Varnadoe. I have a postcard photo of Nelson Connelly working
