Benjamin Lawton Willingham was born 21 Apr.1829 in Lawtonville, SC; died 17 Feb. 1898, in Macon GA.) married and Elizabeth Martha Baynard Willingham, born 15 Sept. 1830 in Broad River, SC; d. 17 July 1887 Macon GA.) . They were married in 1848 and lived for a time on a plantation on the Savannah River near Allendale, called "Gravel Hill."   The family record shows that they had grandchildren born at Gravel Hill as late as 1886 ( with some deaths in infancy and early childhood)

Benjamin Lawton Willingham b. 21 Apr. 1829, Lawtonville, S.C.; d. 17 feb, 1898, Macon, Georgia married in 1848 to Elizabeth Martha Baynard b. 15 Sept. 1830, Broad River, S.C.; d. 17 July 1887, Macon, Georgia.   They had seventeen children born from 6/6/1849 - 8/12/1874, four dying before adulthood. My records indicate that several of their grandchildren were born at Gravel Hill. Thomas Henry Malone born June 24,1881 at Gravel Hill. The last Willingham grandchild born at Gravel Hill was Thomas Henry Malone's brother, Broadus Eugene Malone born Sept. 21, 1886 who died in infancy. Ernest Pringle Malone, another brother, who lived to adulthood, was born Feb. 28, 1884 at Gravel Hill.

This family history that was compiled in 1976 by Calder Willingham Payne entitled Descendants of Benjamin Lawton Willingham and Elizabeth Martha Baynard (55 pgs.).
