|This house was built circa 1840-41. It was originally built by the Cole family from Texas as a summer home. The building has survived the Burning of Bluffton in 1863 and a terrible storm called the "Great Sea Island Storm of 1893." It is one of 10 antebellum buildings in Bluffton's Historic District. It is now run as a historic house museum reminiscing of the mid to late 1800's. Photo Copyright © 2009 Heyward House Historic Center, all rights reserved.
