Seth Clark came into possession of the place belonging to his father and grandfather. He married 8 July 1742 Thankful Allen. He built the front part of the house, now owned by heirs of Warren Hartshorn, and kept an inn there for many years. He was one of the most influential men in the town; served as selectman in 1752, 1754, (his wife, Thankful, died 3 Jan. 1760) 1762, and 1768; representative to the General Court in 1765 and 1768; delegate to the Provincial Congress in 1775; and assistant commissary in the American Army during the Revolutionary War in 1778. Seth died 15 May 1805.
