Page 172: Indenture made 1 Dec. 1772. Between Peter Gill of Halifax Co. & Frances his wife, and Roger Atkinson of Dinwiddie Co. Gill sold 3 tracts of land contiguous & adjoining, containing in the whole 475 acres. 136 acres, one tract thereof being (so much?) Land granted to one Peter Gill, father of the Feoffer, by Letters patent bearing date at Williamsburg the 12th day of July, 1750. 180 acres another tract thereof granted to the last mentioned Peter Gill by Letters patent bearing date at Williamsburg the 12 day of March 1739. 159 acres the other tract thereof being the lands which the said last mentioned Peter Gill purchased of one Seth Perkinson, which Perkinson conveyed to him by deed dated 10 March 1749. Land adjoins lands of Benjamin Dyson & Parker Ware; upon Swift Creek, it being the same land the said Peter Gill inherited from his father, Peter Gill, late of the County of Chesterfield.
