Absolom Gill was born about 1816 and married Christiana (Cresey) Mitchell on 10th April 1836 at Shipley. They had about six children. Absolom appears to have spent most of his life working as a farm labourer in the village of Morton Banks, on the edge of Keighley, where the family lived throughout most, if not all, of the 19th century.
