James Gill b<1731 - d1789, son of Stephen Gill,  - married Frances Rowlett (will of John Rowlett 1777).

James Gill of Chesterfield Co., VA. 6 March 1752, Benjamin Atkins of Chesterfield Co. to James Gill of same for £50, 200 acres bounded by Stephen Gill, being a part of 400 acres granted by patent to Moses Ferguson and conveyed to said Atkins. No witnesses. Recorded 3 April 1752. Atkin's wife relinquished her dower right (p27 Chesterfield Co. Deeds 1749-1756, Weisiger 1991, Fleet V27, p39).

5 Jan. 1752, Daniel Perkinson & Ralph Perkinson of Dale Parish, Chesterfield Co., to James Gill of same for £14, 106 acres; being land granted by patent to John Perkinson and left by him to be equally divided between his two sons Daniel & Ralph. Wit: B. Watkins, B. Harris, Rich'd Eppes, Wm. Moseley. Recorded 2 Feb. 1753 (p41 Chesterfield Co. Deeds 1749-1756, Weisiger 1991).

20 April 1756, Hy. Vaden of Chesterfield Co. to Wm. Vaden of same for £25, 63 acres, bounded by Second branche of Swift Creek. Wit. Cain Man, James Gill, Wm. Herringham. Signed: Hy Vaden. Rec 7 May 1756. Wife of Hy. Vaden relinquished her dower. (p4 Chesterfield Co., VA Deeds 1756-1764, Weisiger 1989).

6 Nov. 1760, Robert Ellett of St. Johns Parish, King William Co., to William Smith of Chesterfield Co. for £50, land in Dale Parish on south side of west branch, adjoining Harry Smith, Aron, Ferguson, Joseph Gill, James Gill, Stephen Gill, and Edmund Graves, 200 acres. Wit: Wm. Graves, Zachariah Ellett, Hy. Winfrey. Signed Robert Ellett, Frances Ellett. Recorded March 1761(p65 Chesterfield Co, VA Deeds 1756-1764, Weisiger 1989).

1764 Will of John Gill of Dale Parish, Chesterfield Co., VA: to nephew John Gill, son of my brother Peter Gill, 200 acres on north side of Youles Branch, adjoining Thos. Branch, Thomas Rowlet, Jr., and Wm. Totty, Sr., it being the upper part of 400 acres that fell to me by my brother Webster Gill, where plantation now stands. To Edward Dance, son of Thomas Dance, rest of the 400 acres. To Neil McCarin, 100 acres on south side of Wintepock Creek and north side of Youles Branch, being upper part of land I hold there, joining said McCarin. To James Gill, a tract at head of White Oak Branch, south side of Wintepock Road, bounded by John Cousin's line. To my brother Daniel Gill, tract I live on, and all other tracts not disposed of, and 1 negro. Executor: brother Daniel Gill. Dated 15 Sept. 1764. Wit: Wm. More, Aron Watts, John Bott. 1782 Daniel Gill, Sr. of Dale Parish, Chesterfield Co., VA, will 20 Mar. 1782: wife Susannah at her death or marriage, said legacy to son Thomas Gill. Son John, the middle plantation of the tract on which I live, being the place on which my brother Webster Gill lived, the dividing line to be made in my lifetime with Wm. Cousins of 100 acres. Son Daniel, a tract of 130 acres on Youles Branch adjoining Roger Atkinson, John Dyer, Neil McLarin, John Cousin, and W. Gill. Son Thomas, the lower part of my land on the east side of Youles Branch, being the place I now live adjoining John Gill, James Gill, and Field Archer. Son Edward, the plantation of 200 acres on which Gilmore lived. Son Billey, land on the west side of Youles Branch, adjoining Wm. Cousins, Edward Dance, and Wm. Gill and his brother Thomas Gill, 100 acres. Personal estate to be divided among all my children: John, Daniel, Thomas, Edward, Billy, and Molly, said division to be made by three Gentlemen chosen by majority of my sons and daughter. Ex'rs: Sons Thomas and Edward Gill. Wit: Wm. Cousins, Wm. Gibbs, John Botte. Wills III, 353 (Mrs. Clark p550).
