From Rhea County Historical Society Title: Rhea County Deed Books A-E p.  180 414 (e-431)( 12 ap 1796)

Deed of Conveyance, George Gordon, Atty for Stockley Donelson and Richard GILL of New York City (Geo Gordon was appointed Atty on 8 Ap 1796 to sell and convey six tracts lying in Territory South of the Ohio, Grants from NC to  Donelson containing in all 4560 acres). for the sum of $1520, the 4560 acres  was sold to Richard GILL.

No 1-- 1000 acres on north side of Tennessee River. Beginning at a stake, then E 243 poles to corner to Donelsons other survey at  mouth of Little River or whites Creek, etc. Bearing date of 11 July 1788.

No. 2.-- 1000 acres lying on Bluff Creek joining Donelsons and Thomas Hutchersons  upper line on ridge SE side of creek. Patent dated 11 July 1788. No 3--640 acres on both sides of Clinch River adjoining lower end of Henderson and Cos  grant, beating date 11 July 1788. No. 4--640 acres on north side of Tennesse River including first bottom below mouth of Clinch River. Patent dated 11 July 1788. No 5-- 640 acres in Davidson Co on the second creek above Bradleys  lick, on east branch of the east fork of Stones River. Patent dated 18 May  1788. No 6-- Another tract in Davidson Co (amt not given) on second creek below Bradleys Lick. Patent dated 18 May 1788. Witnesses: George Breton, Wm Brooks, and Thos Mainutt.

Proven in New York, Registered 15 Sept 1796, registered Knox Co., 17 Jan 1812 registered Rhea Co 13 Mar 1827.

Ratification of contract between George Gordon of Knox Co., Atty in fact for  Richard GILL to Andrew Jackson. "Richard GILL on the 20 Oct 1799 by letter wrote by me to George Gordon of the Town of Knoxville did advise and authorize the said Gordon to sell and convey with speical warranties six several tracts of land containing 4560 acres. George, as my attorney did on 1 Oct 1800 execute deeds of conveyance to Andrew Jackson of Davidson Co the aforesaid six tracts." Witness: William Hall. Registered Roane Co 6 Apr 1804;  registered Rhea Co 13 mar 1827.

( personal note: This Andrew Jackson was "Old Hickory" who became President  of the U.S.)

417 (E434) (1 Oct 1800) Deed of conveyance,  Richard GILL by his Atty in fact George Gordon to Andrew  Jackson, 1000 acres on N side of Tennessee River in Knox Co. (formerly Greene Co) for $600 (see No 1 above). Patent No 569, 11 July 1788. Witness: Plesent M. Miller. Registered Knox Co 17 Jan 1812; registered Rhea Co 13 Mar 1827
