John C. B. Gill born c1801? (1822-21), married Matilda M. (maiden name Thomas according to an LDS record). Does anyone know if the "B" was for Bailes?
7 July 1843, Dec. Ct 1843 #119 Franklin County North Carolina - Original Wills - Volume 1:1780-1861 (abstracted by Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, Jr.): To my wife Matilda M. - lend to her the land where I now reside with the residue of my estate during her life and then to go to all my children. To my daughter Eliza T. Little, wife of Joseph J. Little - lend to her negro woman Almeda & her child Louisa, for her life & then to go to her children. To my daughter Caroline M. Gill - lend to her negro woman Dilsey & her child Lavinia, for her life & then to go to her children but should she die without issue then the negroes to go to the rest of my children. To my son John T. - negro boy Lewis. To my son William H. - negro boy Joe, when my said son is age 21. To my son Benjamin J. - negro boy Sam, when my said son is age 21. Ex. friend Nicholas B.
