IGI states Samuel C. Gill marr Susan Ewing 30 May 1819 in Madison co. Ala this is an extraction of the actual record.

1850 Pontotoc co. Miss census

I have not found Susan's parents yet, but I did find this:

Orphans Court Book 11, page 142. Sept 12, 1846, Lettrs of administration on the estate of Charles Ewing dec'd issued to Samuel C. Gill, Thomas Fulton, William Raley and John Harris, sureties.

Probate record 14, page 102. Final settlement of the state of Charles Ewing dec'd. 17 April 1848. To John Harris and wife Grizzy, $115.79: Samuel C. Gill and wife Susan, $115.70: Thomas Fulton and wife Ann, $115.70: Carles Ewing, (typo?) $115.70:

Samuel W. McGaughey and wife Sally, $115.70: Alexander Mitchell and wife Elizabeth, $115.70: Zachariah Fulton and wife Jane, $115.70:Polly Nelson, $115.70: Joseph Jamison and wife Susan, $14.46, William R. Harris and wife Rhoda $14.46, James Ewing, $14.46, William Ewing, $14.46, John Ewing, $14.46, Drucilla (also written Donella) Ewing by her guardian $14.46, Caroline Ewing by her guardian, $14.46, Clementine Ewing by her guardian, $14.46: Alexander T. Dobbins and wife Polly, $16.52, John Armor and wife Cyrens $16.52, Joseph Harris That is all it said, nothing after the last name. There is no mention of the relationship of these people to Charles Ewing, it could be a brother, but I never assume anything without proof.

I have only seen Samuel Curry Gill written with his whole name once. He was listed in a book of Land Records-Military Warrents in Lawrence co. Ala. 8/6/1835. In 1845-46-47 he was in Sumter co. Ala. I think he may have been on the move to Miss. as he was on the 1850 census I sent you. I have the marriage dates on most of S. C. 's children if anyone should want them. I have not seen the actual marr. record of Charles and Eliza Jane to indicate that she was a Milam, but John W. Gill s/o Samuel was marr. to Mary Milam in Pontotoc Miss 9-7-1858 I don't know when Susan died but on the 1870 Lee co. Miss census she was living in the house with John W. McWhorter and her daughter Rebecca and was 70 yrs old.

I would like to clarify the record of Charles E. Gill. As you can see from the probate record he was the first born son of Samuel C. Gill and Susan Ewing. I don't know who is being referred to as Charles E. Gill Jr. There are some confusing names in this family, because of the repetition of names, such as Samuel C. Gill had a son named Wm. M. and Charles E. named his first son Wm. M. this has caused me many headaches, when reading records. The only way I have been able to keep them straight, is by age, and wife's name. Wm. M. s/o Samuel C. married Sally J. Lilley and Wm. M. s/o Charles E. married Ella Poole. One more point of interest, Samuel C. Jr. s/o Samuel C. Sr. married the sister of Ella Poole, Emma C. Poole, I have much more info on these people if anyone has any specific questions.
