Columbia County 1821 tax lists show three Gills all immediately adjacent to each other: William H. Gill, John N. Gill, and Charles C. Gill. All paid poll tax, implying they resided in Columbia County, for 31 1/4 cents. William H. Gill also is listed with "one four wheel carriage" for a total tax of $1.31 1/4. A William H. Gill shows up in Alabama in 1850.
