DEMPSEY FAMILY CEMETERY
DEMPSEY LANDING ROAD
| This cemetery is located off Salkehatchie Road from Hwy 68 East turn left onto Henderson Hwy. go to the end of road and turn left and go about 5 miles. You will see a large oak beside a dirt road. It is a well traveled road with a stop sign. The cemetery is located 1/4 mile down this road on the left. There is a landing where the river runs through at the bottom of the hill. This is the coldest, dark water in all of Hampton Co. People fish, swim, and in the older days we held baptisms here. It is a peaceful and serene spot. The cemetery is a beautiful well kept cemetery to be out in the woods, with a beautiful cedar tree inside the fence with Spanish moss. I know the tree has to be over 200 yrs. old. From inscriptions on the stones I determine this cemetery to be established around 1810 or 1820. You can also enter onto Salkehatchie Road off Hwy 63 going N. | |
Turn right at Miley Crossroads, go down about 4 miles it will be on left.
