John Lewis Peyer im Hoff was from, and served from, Orangeburgh. Mrs.
Hicks found this muster record, "First Council of Safety of the Revolutionary
Party," in V.ii. page 187 of the South Carolina Historical Magazine (this is not
a primary record). This muster was in 1775, of Col. Wm. Thomson's
Third Regiment, Continental (Regular) Line (not Militia). Since they
were in the Allendale area, this company may have faced off against
Levi Youmans' Loyalists.
