| SMITH |
I am looking for Ephraim George Smith of Hampton Co. He was born March
15, 1848 and died between 1910 census and 1920 census. One wife (I believe
his 2nd) was Mary Elizabeth "Emma" Crapse, b May 7 1855, d August 18 1909.
I believe that I descend from a possible first unknown wife. In 1888,
a group of 35 members organized a church called
Stafford Baptist Church. E. G. Smith
and Mrs. E. G. Smith were named in that group on pg 88 of "Both Sides of
the Swamp". I'm trying to determine if this E. G. Smith is the same
as my 2nd GGF Ephraim G. Smith born March 15 1848, who I have been told is
the son of Thomas M. Smith b Feb 7 1813 and Rachael Osteen b April 1813.
If you know of anyone familiar with this cemetery, or researching this
line, I would certainly be interested in speaking with them. 7 June

| Stanley |
I am also a direct descendant of Dempsey Stanley and have a copy the
article by Rev. Dowling and G.G Dowling. Delighted to see the information
you are posting on the web, I have worked with Stanley genealogy for some
years, but cannot discover our line beyond Dempsey Sr.s father James
Stanley who received a land grant in 1788. Would you have any additional
information about where our ancestors may have entered the country and whether
they may have sailed from England or Ireland? There was a Benjamin Stanley
in Colleton County and Sands Stanley in Darlington District. I have a flimsy
connection with the Sands Stanley line, but inconclusive. Any help would
be appreciated. July 2006 |
