deal of land in the county. Married Virginia Gyles. Their son, James Thomson,
Jr. married Adelaide Rice. Their daughter, Pauline lived in the Civil War
era and married Robert W. Gerald, Jr. I know of two children: Leewis Thomson

| Thompson / Trowel |
I am a descendant of African Americans from Hampton County, South Carolina.
My family names include Thompson and Trowel. My great-great grandmother Charity
Trowel Thompson was born circa 1849. My great-great grandfather Willis Thompson
was born circa 1840. I have always been told that Charity was of Indian descent.
I would like to know more about the Indian tribes that would have lived in
Peeples, Hampton County. I also would be interested in obtaining additional
information on the plantations and slave owners associated with the Thompson
and Trowel names. 27 March 2007 |
