FRANCES "FANNY" BEAL GRIFFIN

Daughter of William Beal (Beale) Revolutionary War Soldier - Captain William Beal served as a Continental Soldier in the 3rd regiment commanded by Colonel William Thomson and for that he is entitled to two hundred acres of land. He also supplied 20 bushels of corn for militia use in 1781, lost a horse in public service in 1782. In the books, "Greenwood County Sketches" and also "History of the Upper Country of South Carolina", the stories of encounters between Captain Beal and the Tory, "Bloody Bill Cunningham" is given. FANNY BEAL GRIFFIN - b. circa 1747 at South Carolina died at Abbeville, Greenwood Co., SC circa 1799. Married before 1763 at the 96th District, SC., James Griffin, b. 1731 at Virginia d. at Newberry Co., SC 14 November 1782 at the Fall of Charleston.

96th District South Carolina

Mrs. Fanny Griffin - widow, 18 July 1785, paid one hundred and twenty pounds and six pence three farthing sterling for her account of driving wagon and provisions on militia account in 1779.
