Route information:
This short ride begins near the University of South Carolina and takes you thru the Shandon and Wheeler Hill neighborhoods. Because of the scenery, the wide streets, and the relatively low traffic, this area is one of the favorites among cyclists in Columbia.
- Begin at Maxcy Gregg Park.
- Go west on Park Circle one block (0.2 km.).
- Turn left. Go south on Pickens Street one block (0.1 km.).
- Turn left. Go east on Wheat Street about seven blocks (0.8 km.).
- Turn right. Go south on Harden Street a short distance. Watch out for the traffic here!
- Turn left. Go east on Wheat Street one block (0.1 km.).
- Turn left. Go east on Terrace Way 0.3 miles (0.5 km.).
- Turn left. Go east on Wheat Street four blocks (0.7 km.).
- Turn left. Go north on Holly Street one block (0.1 km.).
- Turn right. Go east on Blossom Street five blocks (0.9 km.).
- Turn right. Go south on Ott Road six blocks (0.7 km.).
- Turn right. Go west on Heyward Street thirteen blocks (2.0 km.).
- Turn right. Go north on Saluda Avenue three blocks (0.3 km.).
- Turn left. Go west on Catawba Street about four blocks (0.2 km.).
- Turn right. Go north on Saint James Street one block (0.1 km.).
- Turn left. Go west on Catawba Street one block (0.3 km.).
- Turn right. Go north on Pickens Street three blocks (0.4 km.).
- Turn right. Go east on Park Circle one block (0.2 km.).
