Colleton State Park

This state park is a popular stop-over for interstate travelers. Campers, fishermen, and canoeists enjoy the peaceful and relaxing waters of the Edisto River, with its diversity of wildlife.

Edisto Beach State Park

(Edisto Island)

This popular state park provides access to the beach and some spectacular views of the creeks and tidal marshes. There are two camping areas and a small number of vacation cabins.

Edisto Nature Trail

(Jacksonboro)

Located within the ACE Basin, you have your choice here of two hiking trails thru the woods, a long one and a short one. Several historical features will be found here, including rice fields, a phosphate mine site, an old canal, and a logging tram railway path.

Frank E. Baldwin, Jr. Bridge Landing

The boat ramp at this location has probably seen better days, but you can get a spectacular view of the Ashepoo River from this location. A portion of an older bridge is still in place.

Givhans Ferry State Park

On the banks of the Edisto River, this state park features hiking trails, vacation cabins, and a camping area.

Great Swamp Sanctuary and Mayfield Park

(Walterboro)

This sanctuary is located inside the City of Walterboro, yet some parts of it seem to be distantly removed from civilization. Three miles of hiking and bicycling trails wander thru the wilderness, some of which are paved. It is also a popular place for canoeing.

Little Library Park

(Walterboro)

This small park in Walterboro contains a historic building surrounded by gardens. Several other historic buildings are located across the street.

Long Creek Landing

This boat landing also has a small picnic shelter and a hiking trail.

Walterboro - Colleton County Recreation Center

(Walterboro)

Located just north of the Walterboro airport, this recreation center features a wide variety of sports facilities, plus several hiking trails thru the woods.
