Azalea Park

This is a nicely landscaped garden in a residential area of Summerville, SC.

Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site

Attractions at this park include the site of the tabby fort, the tower of St. George’s Parish Church, and an outdoor kiosk explaining the history of Dorchester and the upper Ashley River area. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Francis Beidler Forest

The Francis Beidler Forest in the Four Holes Swamp contains the largest remaining stand of virgin, old-growth bald cypress and tupelo gum trees in the world. A portion of this swamp is visible from the boardwalk.

Givhans Ferry State Park

On the banks of the Edisto River, this state park features hiking trails, vacation cabins, and a camping area.

Herbert H. Jessen Public Boat Landing

This boat landing is a very attractive spot along the upper Ashley river, and it is also a popular place for fishing and picnicing in nice weather. A short walking path and boardwalk leads along the river.

Middleton Place

On the banks of the Ashley River you will find Middleton Place, a carefully preserved plantation dating from the 18^th century. You can visit the house and the stableyards, and also see America's oldest landscaped gardens.

Sawmill Branch Walk / Bike Trail
