Edisto Memorial Gardens and surrounding parks(Orangeburg) |
Just outside of downtown Orangeburg is a string of parks along the Edisto River. The centerpiece is the Edisto Memorial Gardens, which feature hundreds of species of roses, as well as wisteria, dogwoods, azaleas, and crape myrtle. The adjacent wetland park has a series of boardwalks thru the swamp. Many picnic tables are available, and an arts center is open at certain times of the week. |
Eutaw Springs Battle Ground(Eutaw Springs) |
Here you can visit the site of the last important Revolutionary War battle in the Carolinas, which took place on September 8th, 1781. |
Eutawville Park(Eutawville) |
This town park in Eutawville has a playground, a baseball diamond, and a meeting building. It is also a convenient parking area for the Palmetto Trail. |
Indian Bluff Recreational Park |
Here is a good place to go for a picnic or to spend a nice relaxing afternoon on the shores of Lake Marion. You will also find a boat ramp, fishing pier, and a short boardwalk thru the woods. |
Joe Miller Park(Elloree) |
The town park in Elloree, SC has a large grassy field with a stage and a picnic area. |
Livingston Landing |
This landing for small boats is located along a dirt road south of Orangeburg on the North Fork Edisto River. |
Rowe's Bridge Landing |
This boat ramp near Rowesville is located along a lightly-traveled scenic highway. |
Santee Cooper Wildlife Management Area |
A scenic wildlife management area with plenty of hiking trails is located on the south side of Lake Marion near the community of Eutaw Springs, SC. |
Santee State Park(Santee) |
Santee State Park is on the south side of Lake Marion, just outside of the town of Santee. Access is easy from I-95, and a wide variety of activities are available. |

Vance Community Park(Vance) |
This town park has a picnic shelter and a large playground. The Palmetto Trail runs near here, but parking is limited. |

On the northern part of the route, you will pass by some of the newer housing developments, and then you will go through some older neighborhoods on the southern part of the route. |

This route begins in the town of Elloree, SC. You will then pass by farms, swamps, woodlands, and upscale residential areas as you approach Santee State Park. After leaving the park, you will see some more residential areas and a golf course as you approach the town of Santee. |
