Located just north of downtown Bennettsville, Lake Paul Wallace and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of recreational activities.

The lake is actually divided into three parts. The swimming and boating side has a one mile skiing channel, grassy sunning terraces, and white sandy beaches for swimming. Across a diversion dike is the larger fishing and sailing portion, which is stocked with fish. The third portion of the lake lies north of Beauty Spot Road and is the reservoir for the City of Bennettsville's water system as well as a waterfowl refuge with Canada Geese, ducks, coots, mergansers and herons.

A three-mile trail runs around the eastern shore and across the diversion dike of the Lake.

Unfortunately, not all of the lakeside facilities are well maintained. There is plenty of vandalism and graffiti, and a rusty chain-link fence surrounds the lake.
