Savage Bay is one of the few remaining undisturbed Carolina Bays, now protected from development and listed as a Wildlife Viewing Area. Unmarked trails lead you around the bay for observation.

How to get there

Take I-20 to exit #98 and go north on US #521 (Broad Street) 3.8 kilometers (2.4 miles). Turn right onto US #1 (DeKalb Street) and go northeast 13.3 km. (8.3 miles), then turn right onto secondary road #835 (Drakeford Road). Savage Bay is on the right.
