Mrs. W.J. Anderson Dies Near Nichols, Rites Held Tuesday
Mrs. Minnie Mae Meares Anderson, 80, widow of William James Anderson, Rt. 2, Nichols, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sallie Ina Soles, following a long period of declining health.
Mrs. Anderson, a Dillon Co. native, was a daughter of the late James R. and Sarah Elvington Meares, and a member of Wannamaker Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Soles of Nichols, and Mrs. Iva Mae Hardee of Dillon; two sons, Chesley Hoyt Anderson of Nichols and James A. Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, J. Foster Meares of Nichols, and a sister, Mrs. W.E. Rogers of Marion. Ten grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon in the Meares Funeral Home Chapel here, conducted by the Rev. Mark Osborne, with internment in Riverside Cemetery, Nichols.

"Furman Monroe Meares, 63, of the Wannamaker secion of Horry County, died Monday, November 20th in a Conway Hospital. He was born in Horry County, a son of Mrs. Mary Blanton Meares and the late Emerson Monroe Meares. He was married to the former Miss Ellen Battle. He was a member of Wannamaker Baptist Church."
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, November 22nd from the Meares Funeral Chapel in Mullins. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Surviving are his mother; his widow; one son, James Monroe Meares of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Gary C. Meares of Kingstree; five sisters: Mrs. J. W. (Essie) Wood of Anderson; Mrs. John (Meekie) Cooper of Myrtle Beach; Mrs. E. S. (Thelma) Tyler of Nichols; and Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Wood of Tigerville."
