Please use the selection (navigation) bar at top to select cemeteries of interest. It would be wonderful if all Dillon researchers would help each other by contributing burial information on their ancestors. If you have tombstone inscriptions to contribute, please send them to me and I will create a link from this list to a separate page of burials for that cemetery, or add the information to existing pages. If you can provide any information at all on Dillon County cemeteries and/or their histories, please contact me. Please note the wonderful contributions posted here through the generosity of your fellow researchers. Of special note, Mrs. Dora Louise Easterling Drost, the former Mrs. McCollum, author of Some Cemetery Inscriptions from Dillon County, South Carolina, gave permission to post her copyrighted work representing decades of cemetery transcriptions, and Sandra Brumbles and Sheila Berry have worked valiantly to provide complete surveys of Dillon cemeteries (some quite large!) and deserve an extra hug from each of us. Latest contributions:
As of September 1, 2001, the list of cemeteries on this site, begun in 1996,
includes the following:
1. All Dillon County cemeteries named in the Bicentennial Project (D.A.R., Colonial
Dames and U.D.C. chapters) "Cemeteries in Dillon County and Upper Marion County"
published in binder form in the late 1970's,
2. All Dillon County cemetery names found in an online search at U.S.G.S.,
3. All Dillon County cemetery names found in "101 Cemeteries in Marion County
South Carolina", published 1985 by the Marion County Historical Society,
4. Most, if not all, cemeteries surveyed by Mrs. Dora Louise Easterling McCollum Drost in
the 1950's, and
5. A few cemeteries not found in any known "cemetery books"; there are surely
many more of these and I hope researchers will let us know about them.
