Another Veteran Gone
Finley Gilbert, of Near Latta, Answers Last Roll Call

Finley Gilbert, aged 79 years, died near here Monday after an illness of only a few days. He was a Confederate Veteran having been a member of Company D, 25th South Carolina Volunteers. He was captured at Fort Fisher and imprisoned at Elmira, NY. He was married a number of years ago to Miss Ann McInnis. Only one child survives him. Mrs. Julius Norton. He leaves also an only sister Mrs. Bright Berry. He lived most of his life in the Bingham community and was an up right citizen. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev W C Allen, and the interment was at old Catfish Cemetery.
