Henry J. Gasque Dies at Florence

Henry J. Gasque, for many years a resident of Dillon, died Thursday at the naval base hospital in Charleston. Mr. Gasque was 57 years old.

Mr. Gasque was a native of Georgetown. He was a brother of Mrs. W. K. Hamilton, one of Dillon's pioneer residents, and spent his young manhood in Dillon. The greater portion of Mr. Gasque's life was spent in the newspaper business and he was at one time editor of the Dillon Advertiser, and later worked on The Herald.

Mr. Gasque was a Spanish-American war veteran and was buried Friday at Florence with military honors. He was a man of splendid mental attainments and charming personality and had many friends throughout the country who will regret to learn of his death.

Mr. Gasque is survived by his sister, Mrs. W. K. Hamilton, and by the following nephew and nieces; Miss Bruce Hamilton, Mrs. T. H. Cribb, Mrs. Jennings Blackmon, Mrs. Robert J. Muldrow, Misses Sadie and Jessie Gasque, Earl Gasque of Lake View, Mrs. Bruce Jones of Dunn, N. C.
