Gus Herring

Funeral services for Gus Herring, 68, who died at his home Saturday, were held from Williams Funeral Home Sunday at 4 o'clock with Rev Frank Zedick in charge. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. A son of the late Jesse and Pettie Brumbles Herring of Dillon County, he had worked for the past several years for Melvin Edwards Grocery. He is survived by a sister, Mrs Shepard Williamson of Dillon; and two brothers, J M Herring of Dillon, and Latha Herring of Rock Hill, and a number of nephews and nieces in this community.

Serving as pall bearers were Melvin Edwards, Fred Hyatt, Robert Stanton, Roy Lee, Nick Daniels Jr., and Carl Hyatt. The funeral service was attended by a large number of friends and family.

NOTE: The obit in the State Paper listed his being a son of the late Jessie and Kate?? Herring and had brother Latha's name as Latham.
