L D Truax 84 Died Thursday

L D Truax, 84, retired veneer and plywood manufacturer, died Thursday morning in a Florence hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 4pm Friday from St Barnabas' Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev Edwin T Williams, assisted by the Rev J A Merchant. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr Truax was born in Glen Sutton, Quebec, Canada, in 1879. He came to Dillon in 1945 and organized the L D T Veneer Co. He was a faithful member of St Barnabas' Episcopal Church, and was 60 years a Blue Lodge Mason. He was an interested supporter of Boys Town at Omaha, Nebraska. It was his wish, according to members of his family, that contributions to Boys Town or to some other charity or welfare movement be made in lieu of flowers.

Mr Truax is survived by a daughter, Mrs Wesley Gore of Dillon; and three sons, Lyndon of Holly Ridge, NC, and Hollis and Douglas of Dillon. Also surviving are 4 sisters and a brother, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
