Shepard T Coates

Dillon---Shepard Tillman Coates, 73, died Saturday in St Petersburg, Fla after a long illness. Born in Dillon County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Malinda Turner Coates. A World War II veteran, he retired as a master sergeant after 30 years service in the US Marine Corps. Surviving are a brother, Lamar W Coates of Charlotte; and three sisters, Mrs Viola McKinney of Rockville, Md, Mrs Evans Taylor and Gladys Coates of Dillon. Services will be 4pm today at Blanton-Cottingham Funeral Home, with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
