LATTA-- Services for Oscar James Hatchell, 87, will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, December 7, 1999 at Catfish Creek Baptist Church, with burial in the church
cemetery directed by Kannaday's Funeral Home of Latta. Visitation will be from 7-9
tonight, December 6, 1999 at Kannaday's Funeral Home in Latta. The family request that
memorials be made to the Catfish Creek Baptist Church Sunday School Building Fund,
1495 Catfish Church Rd., Latta 29565.
Mr. Hatchell died Sunday, December 5, 1999 at St. Eugene Medical Center. Born in Latta, December 19, 1911, he was a son of the late Lorin N. and Lottie Coleman Hatchell. He wasa life long member of Catfish Creek Baptist Church, where he was a life deacon,Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and church treasurer. He was a chartermember of the Pineland Grange, a member of the Marion-Dillon Pomona Grange, theS.C. State Grange and the National Grange. Mr. Hatchell was Director Emeritus of Production Credit Association, Trustee of Dalco School and other Latta area schools, ASC Community Committee Person, a 50 year member of the Dalco MasonicLodge where he was a Master Mason. Surviving are his wife, Louise Wilson Hatchell of Latta; sons, Oscar J. (Joyce) Hatchell Jr. of Dillon and Wilder (Anne) Hatchell of Florence; daughter, Mabel H. (Jack)Allen of Latta; grandsons, Laurie Allen of St. George and Lafon Allen of Latta;granddaughters, Beverly Hatchell of Mauldin, Janet H. Austin of Piedmont,Stephanie H. Allen of Florence and Shannon Hatchell of Inman; great-grandson,Hunter Allen of Latta; great-granddaughter, Courtney Allen of Florence.
