HAMER -- Services for Autrey Phillip "Phil" McDaniel, 57, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999 at Hamer Church of God. Interment with military honors will follow in Kentyre Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Private Masonic Rites will be observed by Cooper Funeral Home of Dillon.
The family will receive friends at Hamer Church of God 6-9 tonight. Please note that there will be no visitation at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Christian Life School of Theology and Seminary Scholarship Fund, 663 Middle Road, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
Mr. McDaniel departed this life and stepped into the presence of the Lord on Oct. 20, 1999. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints", Psalm 116: 15.
Born in Dillon Co. on Sept. 2, 1942, he was a son of the late Alphonso McDaniel and Lucy Currin McDaniel. He was a member of Hamer Church of God, Men's Bible Class and the choir. He was a retired sales representative with PYA/Monarch, having earned numerous awards for outstanding sales and achievements including the company's most prestigious awards for sales, a farmer, a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Dillon, member of the Columbus Co. Shrine Club, Whiteville, N.C., Sudan Temple, New Bern, N.C., and the Scottish Rite Temple, Wilmington, N.C. He served eight years with the 1st Battalion 263d Armour of the Army National Guard attaining the Rank of Sgt. He was an organ donor.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Dorman-McDaniel of the home; daughters, Karen M. Price of Florence, Paula R. McDaniel of Dillon, Charlene Langston of Lumberton, N.C., Mary L. Tyner of Clayton, N.C., Kathy L. Thompson of Dunn, N.C.; sons, David McDaniel of Hamer, Keith McDaniel of Dillon, Forrest Langston of Parkton, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne M. Brumbles of Hamer, Debbie M. Hill of Dillon; brother, Alton McDaniel of Dillon.
