Ethel Cook Smith--Asheboro, NC

Ethel Cook Smith, age 84, of 4881 Reeder Road, died Sunday April 1 2001 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC.

Mrs Smith attended the Browers Wesleyan Church in Asheboro. A native of Dillon County, she was the widow of Hickman Smith who died in 1969. She was retired from Dixie Furniture Co in Asheboro. Mrs Smith was daughter to the late Gaston and the late Annie Smith Cook.

Survivors include; 4 sons, J T Smith and Bill Smith of Asheboro, Theo Smith of Mebane, NC, and Charlie Smith of Randleman, NC; 4 daughters, Ethel Jane Elliott of Nichols, SC, Annie Saunders and Ella Jacobs of Asheboro, and Janie Jones of Lakeland Fla; one brother, Gibson Cook of Dillon SC; two sisters, Josephine Mann of Haw River, NC and Christine Stevens of Fork, SC; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The funeral was held Wednesday at Cook Funeral Home in Lake View with Rev Rodney Purcell and Rev Bruce Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bill Smith's home, 4469 Reeder Road, Asheboro, NC, or at Ethel Elliott's home, 8318 Raintree Lane, Nichols, SC. Memorials may be made to SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation , 400 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC., 27203.
