Marion County Volunteers
This work is a compilation from various sources and is still under construction. Please bear with me until I complete what has turned out to be a monumental task! More names of Marion County's CSA Volunteers will be added so if you check the list and do not find your ancestor, keep trying until I post the announcement here that the list is completed. New names were last added 6 Sept 2005.
In addition, I would like to ask for your help in order to make this a more valuable resource. First, please remember that I am using secondary sources to compile this list. Even as I key the names in, I see "Marion" volunteers who probably resided in surrounding counties. If you have a Marion County/Dillon County Civil War ancestor's military record, or access to other primary sources, please consider sharing your data with us. Be sure to include "Marion CSA" in the subject line so that your message does not get lost in the hundreds of messages I receive each day.
I have deliberately designed the list to allow for expansion in the "Additional Data" column and I encourage you to submit anecdotes and additional facts on your ancestor which relate to his WBTS experience. (You will be given credit and copyright for what you submit.)
Please note that the South Carolina Dept. of Archives and History in Columbia has all the South Carolina Confederate records (from National Archives microfilm), and holds copies of pension applications.
