Original, preserved copies of these early newspapers are held by the Charleston Library Society in Charleston, South Carolina. Other institutions and individuals, such as the South Carolina Historical Society, have smaller physical holdings of the early South Carolina newspapers as well.

These early newspapers have been microfilmed and copies are available at a number of libraries and institutions nationwide. The (commercial) ESCN web site maintains a list of which libraries have copies, and they also provide a surname listing of extracts. The surname list is free but a copy of the article is not.
