Mrs M. E. G. McWhite
McWhite---Mrs M. E. G. McWhite was born January 24th, 1822 and died May 26, 1896, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr U B Davis.
I formed her acquaintance and visited her home in 1880, while serving the Marion Circuit. Since then, I have spent many pleasant hours in that home of love, peace, and quiet. The deceased held her membership at Britton's Neck church for many years. How sad to think of the old landmarks passing away. Last year, Mrs Dr Dozier, this Mrs McWhite and Dr Dozier, only a few months intervening between the deaths. In the two homes there are sad hearts. But all is well.
The subject of this notice was very quiet and unassuming. Yet in conversation with her, she expressed herself very decidedly with reference to her experience. How she will be missed by those left behind. A mother's sympathy and advice, a mother's love and care. In all this she lives in memory. She is gone, but not dead. She sleepeth, to awake in the morning of that great day, to be with her blessed Lord forever. Let her loved ones so live so that they may meet their mother in the "sweet bye and bye." G W G
