Marion Lanneau "Mossy" Snipes on left
M. Lanneau Snipes, 85, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical
Center after an illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Marion County, a son of
the late Ellie Boyd Snipes and Minnie Atkinson Snipes. He was a retired farmer
and a member of Eulonia Hunting Club and past president. He was also a member
of Centenary Masonic Lodge No. 312.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Causey Snipes; three children, Gail S. Folk
of Summerville, Rockie S. Flowers of Marion, and Ray S. Campbell of Louisiana;
a stepson, Larry Drew of Florence; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Graham of
Marion and Brenda Turbeville of Florence; 14 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Smith and her husband, Olen, of
Rains. He was predeceased by a son, M. Sidney Snipes; and a stepson, Wayne
Drew.
A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. today at Centenary United Methodist
Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Davis will officiate. Smith-Collins Funeral
Home in Marion is in charge.
