Death of Mrs Stackhouse
Wife of Senator From Marion Dies Saturday at Her Home
Special to the State.
Marion---April 19-Mrs Florence McAllister Stackhouse, wife of Senator James Stackhouse, died suddenly at her home here this afternoon at 3 o'clock. She had for some time past suffered with several severe attacks of disease of the heart and it was one of these that caused her death.
She was apparently in her usual health, having been out on the streets walking and only about 20 minutes before the end she had left the home of her daughter across the street. The woman deceased was a woman of many excellent traits of character, refined and cultured manner, and a most devoted wife and mother.
Besides her husband, she leaves six children; three sons,
Mr T L Stackhouse of this place, Mr Lacy Stackhouse who is in business in Dillon;
Mr G Bennett Stackhouse of Mullins; and three daughters, Mrs J D Murchison and
Misses Annie and Nona Stackhouse, the two latter being school girls and the only
children living under the same roof. Mrs Stackhouse was popular with a large circle
of friends and to these and indeed to the whole community, the news of her death was
a severe shock.
