BENJAMIN ARRINGTON, SEN’R.
In the name of God Amen. I Benjamin Arrington Sen’r of the State of South Carolina Marion District finding myself declining but of perfect mind and memory but Knowing that is appointed unto all men once to die do make this my last will and testament
First of all I recommend my Soul to God that gave it & hope that he will receive the same again and as to what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in the following manner
Viz I. Desire that all my lawful debts be paid.
Item I give unto my son Benjamin Arrington Jun’r the plantation or tract of land that I now live on with all the appertainces thereon belonging also a Negro man named Tom which he now has in pofsefsion also a negro woman named Silver and her child named Mille--
Item I give unto my son John Arrington a Negro man named Sam also a Negro boy named Seasor.
Item I lend unto my daughter Martha Hatchell a Negro boy named Hardy also a Negro boy named Moses Also a Negro woman named Jude also a Negro boy named named Isaac during her lifetime at her death I desire the said Negro woman named Jude if she shall still be living I wish that the said Jude shall not be claimed by any of my heirs but that she shall have the priviledge of living with any of my Grandchildren the three boys Hard Moses & Isaac To be sold and the money to be equally divided between my daughter Martha Hatchells children.
Item I give unto my Grandson West Hillobrew one mare called Cade also the increased of saidmare if any I lend unto my Granddaughter Ann White a Negro Girl named Cate during her liftime then the said Negro girl and increase if any to remain with the lawfull heirs of my daughter until the youngest child comes of age. then to be sold or equally divided without a Sale between the lawfull heirs of her body.
Item I give unto my Grandson John Hatchell Twenty five dollars.
Item I give to my grandson Wiley Hatchell two cows & calves.
Item I give unto my granddaughter Lotty Lucus Seven dollars to purchase a Cloak
Item I give unto my Granddaughter Sarah Hatchell Seven dollars to purchase a Cloak
Item I give unto my Grand daughter Hannah Hatchell Seven dollars to purchase a Cloak
Item I give unto my Grand daughter Mimah Hatchell Seven dollars to purchase a Cload
I give unto my Granddaughter Martha Hatchell Seven dollars to purchase a Cloak
After my debts is paid and the legacys gave of the remainder of my Estate if any there be to be equally divided between my son John Arrington and my daughter Martha Hatchell
Lastly I constitute and appoint John Lee and John Leach Executors to this my last Will and Testament in confirmation whereof I have hereunto interchangeably set my hand and Seal this Twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand and eight
