WILL OF
Abraham Avant
In the name of God Amen I Ebenezer Avant of the District of Marion & State
of South Carolina being wead in body but of Sound disposing mind and memory
do make this my last Will and testament in manner and form following I give
devise & bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Avant as much land as She can tend
with her force with the household and kitchen furniture also the plantation
tools Also I give to her Aberdean Willeby Deis Tom, Cate and Joe also two
creatures and Six head of Cattle also thirty head of hogs and one third of the
Sheep One Yoke of Oxen and Cart for her use & heirs I give and bequeath unto
my beloved son Ira Amy Fan Joe & Candy Venus Dock also one Tract of land of
Five hundred and fifty acres Originally Granted to Samuel Wiles also one other
Tract of land Grated to Joshua Avant of Four hundred acres Also One mare two
Cows And calves & one 3d of the Sheep If my son Ira die leaving no ifsue the
negro man Joe to go to my surviving heirs Also all the property I have given
to my son Ira Avant I loan to my daughter Sarah McMillan Doll Nance Dick Ben
Effy Also one tract of land Originally Granted to Jonathan Avant of --- hun-
dred and fifty acres one other tract one to David Rowell of Eleven acres and
one other tract Granted to Gavin Witherspoon of two hundred and fifty acres
also two cows & Calfs. & one third of the sheep this property that I loan unto
my daughter and to the lawful ifsue of her body I leave John Davis to act for
her as agent This my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other and
former wills by me made in case it may be deemed necefsary In Witnefs whereof
I have set my hand and Seal this 19th day of Sept 1823 Signed Sealed published
and declared by the Testator in our prescense and at his request we sign our
names as witnefses
