WILL OF
ELIZABETH BIRD
In the name of God. Amen
I Elizabeth Bird of Marion District and State of South Carolina
Calling to mind the certainty of death as well as the uncertainty of the time
When it may come and being of sound mind and disposing memory do make ordain
and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following here
by revoking disannulling and setting aside all former wills by me made (Viz)
in the first place it is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid
and that my body be buried in a decent Christian manner by my executor here-
after to be named in the place
I Give to my grand daughter Charlotte Herrin
my Negro Girl Hester one good Feather bed and fifty dollars to be paid to her
at her marriage by my executor. Hereafter to be named but if the said Charlotte
Herrin should die leaving no issue in that case it is my will and desire
that the said Hester and her increase should return to my other hairs hereafter
named and if the said Hester should die before the marriage of Charlotte Herrin
that she should have an equal portion with my other heirs hereafter named
* it is my will and desire that all my property * * has already been disposed
of be equally divided between my five children Joseph Bird Hugh C. (or G) Bird
Ann Blackmon (or Blackman) Maria Herrin and Miriam Owens Share and Share alike
and I do hereby constitute nominate and appoint my trusty and well beloved son
Hugh C. (or G) Bird executor to this my last will and testament hereby revoking
disallowing annulling and setting aside all former wills by made in witne* whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of March in the year of our
lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight
