Jacob Parker Brewer, "Will"

In the name of God Amen-the 1st day of July 1783-I Jacob Parker Brewer in the County of Johnston and state of No Carolina planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and so touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath been pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

Imprimis: I lend unto Martha my beloved wife the land and plantation whereon I now dwell with all singular my goods and chittles (sic) and all my personal estate during of her natural life and after her death to be equally divided between my son David Brewer and my daughter Jean Brewer. I also [substitute?] and appoint Martha my wife and my son David Brewer Executrix and Executor of this my last will and testament.

Item: I give my beloved son David Brewer all the land whereon he dwells on and a part of the land whereon I dwell to be divided beginning above my plantation in the first line of the pattent (sic) and running useEt couns (sic) close above the plantation the eastmost line containing by estimation two hundred and fifty acres to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give the remainder of my land unto my beloved daughter Jean Brewer and the plantation whereon I now dwell after her mother's death to her and her heirs forever.

And I do hereby utterly dissolve all and every other former will and testament ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Jacob Parker Brewer as his last will and testament in the presents(sic) of us the subscribers.
