WILL OF
JOSIAH CARTER
In the name of God Amen I Josiah Carter of the State of
south Caroina Marion Destrict, being of perfect mind and
memory do make this my last Will and testament in manner
and form following -Viz.--ITem I lend unto my beloved Wife
Sarah Carter the plantation whereon I now live together
with the Household & Kitchen furniture plantation Tools
and one negroe, which ever she makes choice of during her
life, also a Horse bridle & saddle after her death to be
equally divided between my surviveing Heirs.--
I give unto my eldest Daughter Elizabeth Carter one feather
Bed when demanded--I also give unto my Daughter Mary Carter
one feather Bed when demanded--
I give & bequeath unto my son William H Carter one feather
Bed or the Value thereof in money, I also give & bequeath
to my son Stephen H Carter one feather Bed or the value
thereof in money. Also fifty Dollars extraordinary the
legacies to my two sons William H Carter & Stephen H Carter
to be paid unto them when they arrive at the age of twenty
one years old--
The remainder of my Estate both real & personal Goods &
Chattles of what kind & nature soever-to be equally divided
between my beloved Wife Sarah Carter & my fore Children
Elizabeth Carter Mary Carter William H Carter & Stephen H
Cater when my son Stephen H Carter arrives at the age of
twenty one-lastly I constitute & appoint my beloved wife
Sarah Carter. William Graham son of Hugh Graham & my son
Stephen H Carter Exrs of this last Will & testament here-
by revokeing all former Wills by me made in Witnefs where
of I have here unto set my hand & seal this eleventh day
of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred & nine & the thirty fourth year of the Independence of
the United States of America
