                       WILL OF
                    JOHN COWARD

In the name of God;, Amen---

I John Coward of the State of South carolina and District of Marion Being

in low State of health but in perfect mind and memory and Calling to mind

the Certainty of death do wish to dispose of my temporal affairs in the Man-

ner and form following as My last Will and testament,-viz- e first I rec-

ommend my boddy to be buried in a Christian form by my Executors and all

my Just Debts and funeral Expenses paid out of My Estate - I then Give and

bequeath to my beloved Wife Elizabeth Coward her Choice bed and furniture

also one Mare bridle and Saddle and three hundred Dollars in Money durieng

her natural life and if any of the above mentioned legacy should remain

at her death it shall return back to My Estate,-- I also Give to my daughter

Pallace Allen one feather bed -- and I also Give to my daughter Elizabeth

Hatchel one feather bed; I also Give My son Jesse Coward twenty Dollars, -

I also Give My son Isaiah Coward four Cows and Calvs,- I also Give to My

Grandson John, W.. Coward one three year old heifer,- all the rest and resi-

due of my Estate real and personal I wish to be sold and the Money ariseing

therefrom to be Equally Divided among all my Children for which I now Choose

nominate and appoint James Coward and Solomon Coward Executors of this my 

last will and testament in witnefs I.have hereunto Set My hand and Seal the 

Eleventh day of April Eighteen hundred and thirty four..

I have the children of John Coward as Solomon (m1. Martha Burris, m2. Elizabeth Thompson), 
James, Jesse (m. Keziah Anne Dubose - these were the parents of Col. Asbury Coward),
Ayrich (m. Mary A. Cockfield), Isaiah, Pallace Allen (possibly wife of Richard),
and Elizabeth Hatchell.
