WILL OF FRANCIS DAVIS
In the name of God Amen I Francis Davis of the District of Marion and state
of South Carolina being of sound and disposing Mind and memory and having
desires to settle my worldly affairs whilst I have Strength and capacity so
to do do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in Manner and form
following
Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah _[M] Davis all my real Estate
household and Kitchen furniture with the exception of two beds which I give
to my beloved son Joseph P Davis and my daughter Sarah Ann Davis
Item I give and bequeath to my son Joseph P Davis one negro man named
Jupiter
Item I give and bequeath to my to sons Joseph P Davis Francis M Davis and my
daughter Sarah Ann Davis the following negroes to be equally divided between
them share and share alike namely __[Ma]tilla, Bingham, Tom Bob Molly Julia
Silvey Anne and Jim to them and their ifsue forever.
It is my will and desire that my Horses & Stock of all Kinds with my
Plantation tools be sold and the proceeds thereof be applied to my debts and
the ballance of my debts not settled with the proportion to the value of
their above named Legacies
Item It is my wish and desire that my crop of cotton be sold by my brother
Henry Davis as I have directed him and I hereby nominate constitute and
appoint my two sons Joseph P Davis Francis M Davis and my daughter Sarah Ann
Davis Executors and Executrix of this my last will and testament
In Witnefs I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of
January Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven and in the
Sixty first year of American Independence Signed Sealed published and
declared as and for the last will and testament of the above named Francis
Davis in the presents of us who at his request and in his presents and in
the presents of each other have hereunto Subscribed our names as Witnefses
