WILL OF ROGER GORDAN

        I Roger Gordon of the District and State aforesaid, of sound and dis-
posing mind memory and understanding, do make and ordain the following as my
last will and testament
1  I give and devise the land whereon I live, containing (by a resurvey of
Levi Legete certified the 7th May 1841) four hundred and seventy seven acres
also my River Lands to my son Alped Bloomfield Gordon and my daughter Rectina
Jane Priestley Lewallan equally to be divided between them, to them their
heirs and afsigns forever.
2  To my two grand sons Benjamin Franklin Luallan & Jefse Burkes Luallan I
give and bequeath I give and bequeath the following negroes To wit. Boston
venus Candace Laura Lisette Jefferson and James equally to be divided between
them - to them their heirs & afsigns forever.
3  All my other negroes, & their future increase, all the rest and residue
of my Estate of whatsoever description which I may have or own, at the time
 of my decease, horses mules cattle hogs, sheep household & kitchen furniture,
cotton corn provisions of all Kinds moneys & choses in action of all Kinds,
I give and bequeath in equal parts to my son Alped Bloomfield Gordon & my 
daughter Rectina Jane Priestly Luallan to them their heirs & afsigns forever.
4  It is my will that if there should be any natural increase among the ne-
groes given to my two grand sons before my death, that such natural increase 
should go to them as a part of their legacy.
5.  It is my will that in the event that my son Alped Bloomfield Gordon should
die before my decease, that the devise & legacy herein given to him Should
not lapse, but in that Event I give & bequeath the lands & personal Estate
herein given to him, to the children he may leave, & if he leaves no children
then I give devise & bequeath said lands & personal Estate to my grand sons
in equal parts to them their heirs & afsigns forever
6  It is also my wile that in the event that my daughter Rectina J. P. Lu-
allan Should depart this life before my decease, the devise & legacy herein
given to her Should not on that account lapse, but in that Event I give devise &
bequeath the said Land & personal Estate herein given to my said daughter, to my
two grand Sons Benjamin F. Luallan & Jefse B. Luallan & their heirs & afsigns 
forever 
7  I nominate constitute & appoint my son & daughter herein before named as
Executor of this my last wile & testament.
In witnefs whereof I have herunto set my hand & seal this 27th day of
January A. D. 1846
