WILL OF
JAMES GREGG
State of South Carolina
In the name of God amen. I James Gregg of
Marion District and State aforesaid, finding my bodily health
declining, but of perfect mind and memory Blesfed be God. Do
make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and
form following.
First. I order my body to be decently buried at the discretion
of my Executors, herein after named, and all my Just debts to
be fully satisfied off the whole of my Estate.
Item. I give and Bequeath to my two Daughters. Viz. Jannet Hud-
son and Mary Marshall and my son-inlaw Alexander Jones, also my
son John Gregg, such property as they have already got off, to
be their full shares, to them, their heirs, and asfigns for Ever.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret Gregg four
Negroes named Doll, Arthur, Joe and little Antrim. also one gray
Mare named Fly, Saddle and Bridle, one riding Chair and Harnefs,
one Bedstead Bed and furniture at her own election, the one half
of the beaufat furniture, one Cow and Calf, at my Dec.ed to her.
her Heirs and afsigns for Ever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my son David Gregg one Negro fellow
named Ben, one Boy named little Jack, and the plantation whereon
I now live, being part of three tracts of land containing four
hundred acres more or lesf, one Sorrel horse named Chesnut, one
Saddle and Bridle, one Desk and Beaufat, one Cow and Calf at my
Decease. to him his heirs and afsigns for Ever. Also I bind my
s.d Son David Gregg, to pay to my Son James Gregg, Daughter Eli-
sabeth Gregg, and Son Elias Gregg, Sixty Dollars to each, as
they arrive to the age of Eighteen Years
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son James Gregg, one Negro lad
named Sam, one tract or three parcels of land containing two hun-
dred and Eighty acres more or lefs. Situated above Thomas Finklea
on the long branch, also one Gray filly. saddle and Bridle my
silver Watch, Flavels works, and one Cow and Calf to him his heirs

and afsigns for Ever. To be delivered to him when he arrives
to the age of Eighteen years._________
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elisabeth Gregg,
two negroes named Cesar and little Phebe one young gray horse,
Saddle and Bridle, Bedstead Bed and furniture at her own E-
lection, one hair Trunk, one Cow and Calf to her her heirs,
and afsigns for Ever. To be delivered to her when she arrives
to the age of Eigteen years or marriage.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son Elias Gregg, two neg-
groes named George and Handy, also four hundred and fifty acres
of land mor or lefs situated on the middle Branch, one sorrel
mare Colt one large house Bible, one Cow and Calf to him his
heirs and afsigns for Ever. To be delivered to him when he ar-
rives to the age of Eighteen years. It is also my desire that
my Executors herein after named, at my Dec.se to sell at pub-
lick Auction, or private sale the remaining part of my Estate,
both real and personal, that is not willed, to pay of all my
Just debts and if any overflush Money, to be divided equally
between my three youngest Children. Vis. James, Elisabeth, and
Elias Gregg. and to be given to them as they arrive to the age
of Eighteen years, to them their heirs and afsigns for ever
Lastly. I do constitute and appoint James Hudson and Joohn Gregg,
and David Gregg my lawful Executors of this my last will and
Testament, and do hereby disallow disannull and revoke all and
every other will or Testament legacy or bequeath or Exeutors
by me heretofore named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament,
In witnefs whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
Fifth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand
Eight Hundred and two, and inthe twenty Seventh year of the
Independancy of the united States of America
