                              WILL OF
                            
                        WILLIAM GREGG Sr.

In the name. of God Amen. I William Gregg Senr of the State of
South Carolina, Marion District, being frail in body, but of
a sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks to Almighty God
for his mercies, and knowing that it is appointed unto all
men once to die, do make, constitute and appoint this to be
my last will and testament in manner and form following, Viz.

First it is my will and desire, after my decease that my body
be decently buried, and all my Just debts to be paid, Item I
give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jane Gregg, four Cows
and Calves, one horse, chair and harnefs, at her own choice, 
to her, her heirs and afsigns forever--

Item. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jane Gregg, and 
to my Eight Children, namely. Robert James Gregg, William Gor-
don Gregg, John Gadson Gregg, Samuel Elijah Gregg, Joezer Levi
Gregg, Alxander Nelson Wilds, Susannah Anderson Gregg, & Boyd
Ellison Gregg, all the remaining part of my Estate both real
and personal, to be equally divided amongst them by three or
more disinterested persons chosen by my Executors for that
purpose, and to be given off to my said Sons as they arrive to
the age of twenty one years, and to my Daughter, Susannah when
she arrives to the age of eighteen years, to them their heirs
and afsigns forever.  It is further my will and desire that
my executors hereafter named shall have full power and authori-
ty. to sell, trade. or barter any part of my perishable prop-
erty; to continue the negroes, together with the plantation
or to hire them either at publick or private Sale as they
shall think most advisable after consulting each other on the 
propriety of any arrangement wishing to be made.------

Lastly. I do hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint my wife
Jane Gregg my three nephews, Alexander Gregg, John Gregg, 
William Gregg Junr and my Son Robert James Gregg, Executrix
and Executors of this my last will and testament, revoking
disannulling and making void all other wills by me heretofore made
and acknowledge this and no other to be my last will and testa-

ment.  In witnefs whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seal
this fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thou-
sand Eight hundred and sixteen, and of the independence of 
the united States of America the fortieth.

N.B. Should my wife Jane Gregg have a living child or children
within nine months after my decease, the said child or chil-
dren to draw an equal share with my wife and Children above
named.------
