WILL OF JOHN JORDAN
I John Jordan of the State of South Carolina District of Marion in Brittons,
Neck; Being very sick & weak in body but of Purfect mind and Memory; Thanks be
given unto God; calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is
apointed for all Men once to Die; do Make and ordain this my last Will and
Testament.. Revoking & dening all others--That is to say Princapally and first
of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hand of Almighty God and my Body I
recommend to be Buried in decent Chritian Burial at the Descretion of my
Executors, Herein after Mentioned and as Touching such worldly state with which
it hath pleased God to blefs me in this life, I give and Bequeath and despose
of the same in the Following Manner and Form,
Itm, First; It is my desire that the whole of my real estate shall be sold by my
Executors at Publick Auction and the Mon . ariseing there from I give and
Bequeath to my Beloved Nephews John Jorden and Gospero Jorden to be equally
Devided betwen them--allso I give and Bequeath to my Nephew David Jordan one
Small Feather Bed and one Cow and Calf. allso I give & Bequeath to Mifs Martha James
one Cow & Calf--allso; I give and Bequeath unto John Mc.Millon/s- only
Daughter----The Name of which I do not Know, one Negro Boy Named Ishmelite--allso,
I give and bequeath unto John Madison Greaves in return for his kindnefs to me,
my Negro Man Named Gaw to be his forever--allso, it is my Desire that my Negro
Woman Named Candis with her increase (Except the Boy Ishmalite above Named)
Togeather with the Residue of the whole of my Personal Estate To be sold at
Publick Auction by my Executors and the Money- ariseing Therefrom,
after my just debt/s- & Funerell Expences are ale paid, To be given
to my Beloved Nephew John Jordan the above Named,-----Lastly, I constitute and
apoint my Worthy Friend- Jo/s- Greaves, Francis Greaves and
John M Greaves My Lawfull Executor/s- To this my Last Will & Testament
As Witnefs my Hand and Seal This Twenty Third of October in the Year of our Lord
one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two
